Employment Law is one of the most complex areas of the law. The rights of the employee cover a whole range of legislation from the right to receive written particulars of the terms of the employee's Contract of Employment within eight weeks of starting work to the right not to be dismissed unfairly. In most cases the situation is remedied amicably with the employer but as a last resort the employee can take his/her case to an Employment Tribunal. In the case of unfair dismissal this may result in reinstatement or some kind of financial settlement. However, there are numerous rights and obligations that exist between the employer and employee and it is best to consult a professional if you think you have a claim or grievance. |
